want to write, the time to write is now. Discover how you
can...
Get started Writing today: the Perfect Time to Write is
Now
(c) 2007. Angela Booth.
One of my dearest friends always said she would write a
book when she retired from her satisfying but exhausting
teaching career: "Writing my book is my reward for working
- I can't wait until I've got free time to write!"
After her retirement, a year went by, then two years. Then
she was offered an overseas teaching position and took it.
What happened to her dreams of writing a book? She still
wants to write she says, and she will, when she "really has
time. There's too much happening in my life at the moment."
The time to write is now: write until it becomes a
habit
Writing is a cherished dream for many people. Whether you
want to write as a hobby or avocation, or want a writing
career as a novelist, a screenwriter or freelance writer,
the time to write is now, in the midst of your busy life.
If you wait to write until you have "more time", you may
find that you never write at all. Losing your life's dream
because of procrastination is a tragedy. Who knows what you
might write, if you took the time?
Here's a secret about writing: writing is a muscle. The
more you write, the more you can write. If you put off
writing, you never give yourself a chance to develop your
writing muscles and a writing habit.
Start writing today.
Start small. Write a couple of paragraphs, and tomorrow
write another couple of paragraphs. Don't worry if your
paragraphs don't make sense, or aren't "good".
In a week or two, write a page a day. Writing a page takes
around ten to 20 minutes. No matter how busy you are, you
can find ten minutes a day, and a page a day grows into a
book over the course of a year.
All writing is a process of discovery. Take a few minutes
today. Write. The perfect time for you to write is now.
